Photo voltaic cells (PV cells)
The name photovoltaic itself describes the function of this core and important component of any solar system. The cells work based on the “photovoltaic effect” which is nothing but direct conversion of light into electricity. Thus “photovoltaic cell” is a device which converts the light energy to electrical energy and is also called as solar cell. Thus the PV cells receive the light energy from the sun and convert it to usable electrical energy. PV cells are made using crystalline-silicon modules.
PV cells are grouped together, electrically connected and mounted in a suitable physical structure to form a solar panel. Depending on the capacity of power required to be generated the multiple solar panels are used as an array.
